Pre School Assistant: Ready Set Grow Therapeutic Play Group

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Preschool Assistant to join our team. The Preschool Assistant will work closely with the lead therapist and program director to support the therapeutic play activities, ensuring each child’s individual needs are met in a structured and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, a passion for helping children with developmental challenges, and excellent communication skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; relevant coursework in Early Childhood Education or Psychology is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or therapeutic setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic, and positive demeanor.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the lead therapist.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Background check required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with developmental delays or special needs.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques or interest in child development.

Physical Requirements

  • Will engage in movements that involve lifting equipment used in patient care, etc.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
  • Must have good vision and hearing.

Key Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Support: Assist lead Occupational and Mental Health Therapists in implementing play-based therapeutic activities that promote social, emotional, and developmental growth.

Snack Management & Allergy Awareness: Oversee snack distribution, ensuring dietary restrictions and food allergies are carefully considered. Maintain a clean and safe eating environment for all children.

Child Supervision & Engagement: Supervise children during group play, ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. Provide individualized support as needed to enhance participation and well-being.

Session Preparation & Cleanup: Help set up and organize play areas, ensuring all materials and resources are ready for each session. Assist with cleanup to maintain a tidy and efficient workspace.

Observation & Documentation: Monitor and document children’s progress under the guidance of lead therapists, contributing to personalized intervention strategies.

Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with therapists and staff to foster a cohesive, nurturing environment. Communicate with parents and caregivers to provide updates on their child’s progress.

Health & Safety Compliance: Follow program health and safety protocols to ensure a secure and structured setting for all participants.

Administrative Support: Assist with preparing resources, copying materials, and creating models for craft projects to support therapy sessions.

Supply & Facility Management: Organize, maintain, and restock therapy and activity supplies. Oversee cleanliness and upkeep of the bathroom and kitchen areas related to Ready Set Grow (RSG) use, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
